"I do like I do in the tall grass, more animal-me than much else."
Ada Limón
As if we were humans starts from the idea that the “animal-me” is never separate, but always mixed into what we call human. This work moves through a blurred space where no gesture is simple – each one is layered with sensation, tension, and noise. This noise is a form of excess: something that resists being pinned down or made clear. The body reveals a creature – not frightening, but unwilling to fit into fixed categories. In a world shaped by ongoing crisis and everyday violence, the work asks what we really are. It suggests that the creature within us – fluid, raw, alert – is not a leftover from the past, but a continuous presence that we often try to name, suppress, or sometimes dance with.
